Suda suda‘s techno backdrop seems jarring for the tune, but James delivers an ace in Maamanukku ennadi, sung by Nancy, Vasudha and Sarayu – a wonderfully endearing tune (Aabhogi?). Mala mele is a throwback to the filmy ‘tribal’ sound and Palani Ammal and Mahalingam’s fantastic vocals helps the song enormously. The composer sings Viraivil vidiyum himself – mighty impressive singing for the pathos tune set to a familiarly standard 80s Western pop style! Kannadi papa‘s overall sound borders on Manmadha raasa, but the tune is thankfully different and is quite spritely! Flat and muted orchestration, but James’ tunes work here!
