Revised review (April 22, 2012):
Tu hi rab takes time to start and even as that painfully outdated tabla starts, only Rahat seems to be helping, since Tulsi Kumar is atrocious. Naina re does have a spark, with a deeply melodic tune, but it is probably Himesh’s nasal singing and the mindlessly elementary backgrounds that work against it; Rahat’s arrival elevates the song significantly, however. Anweshaa does sound good, but perhaps needed a better tune than the bad 80s-style tune of Ishq mein ruswaa, while Lagan lagi and Umeed are embarrassingly and noisily messy. Naina re makes this ishhq less dangerous; some minor solace, that.

PS: I do take the comments on Milliblog seriously, when I have the time. The persistent comments and tweets about Naina re had me going back to this soundtrack and I agree that I was perhaps unduly perturbed by Himesh’s horrendous vocals while evaluating it. It continues to be bad, in my opinion, but Himesh does have an interesting tune for this song, which could have been so much better had he chosen to stop at composing it and not insisted on singing it too. While writing about the song, I felt it was time to jot down my thoughts (beyond the NW1W earlier) on the other songs as well…not that they are dramatically different from the sentiment held within the NW1W.
