The title song gets everything – lyrics, music and vocals – right, and is the best of the album. Tu kya jaane, Albeliya and Yadaan teriyaan are strongly reminiscent of Kailasa’s earlier works, but still make for an engaging listen. The unabashedly lively Kathagaan is the only one that stands out from the rest of the album, mired in ennui-ridden compositions. After 3 fabulous albums, the law of diminishing returns seems to have caught up with Kailasa. Though the band’s output is qualitatively still better than standard IndiPop fare, Rangeele pales in comparison with their highly imaginative work in the past.
