Baa maleye resonates beautifully with BR Lakshman Rao’s lyrics, ambient music and Sonu’s fantastic vocals. Ninade ninade (and its Chaitra-sung version, Preethi moodo) is a lot more methodical, much like the techno-infused Jigidu banthu, which is no doubt catchy with all the right sounds thrown in, but lacks any notable punch. The ode to dosti, Friendship andre is in a good sing-along’ish mode with striking chorus and backgrounds – the chorus working equally well, along with a sweet tune in the Sonu – Mahalakshmi Iyer duet, Dheem dheem. Ricky’s Kannada debut is impressive, barring the lack of any native sounds.
