Satham Podathey (Tamil, Yuvan Shankar Raja)

Azhagu kutti is dissonant, with Shankar Mahadevan sounding a tad harsh for a song sung to a kid! Oh indha kaadhal harks back to the younger Yuvan, composing predictable, trite pop. And, Adnan’s uninterested Tamil grates. Viva‘s diction is better in Pesugiren and the slow, mesmerizing tune works well. Shreya pulls off in style the Anushka’esque Endha kudhirayil – an intriguing sound, appealingly tuned. With Middle Eastern flourishes, Kaadhal periyadha is impressive. Sudha Raghunathan goes out of her comfort zone to accommodate a classily penned suggestive track. Satham Podathey belies expectations and falls massively short of the composer director’s last outing.
