Yaanum Theeyavan (Music review), Tamil – Achu

Nenjukulle starts to sound like Nenjukkul peidhidum, but goes on to be a meandering tune that is well sung by Suchith Suresan. The Unplugged version has more interesting orchestration, but poor diction. Nila nila is much better – the tune builds up really well, and the Swetha Mohan’s entry and the tabla layer add to its charm. The title song works well as a dubstep-kuthu, while Aagayamey‘s minimal and ambient sound is aptly affecting, complete with a lovely sitar interlude. Rise of a Gangster catalogs the said rise in style, with a sweeping range. Decent enough music from dependable Achu.
