Rita and Antony Dasan’s unusual vocals and Santhosh funky music run riot over Kannamma. Ding dong is uber cool gangsta rap transposed to Tamil, while Pandi naatu’s brass band sound is intermittently interesting. Dhesayum ezhandheney is Vishal Bharadwaj’ish in approach; ambient sounds and Meenakshi Iyer’s lovely vocals. Hoo haw’s spaghetti western sound is imaginative. The instrumentals, the very-Hotel-California’ish Thanda and scintillatingly jazzy Ottam offer diverse, fantastic listens! Baby, with Santhosh using Western Country sound to fabulous effect and Jigar, where Pradeep Kumar’s gibberish rules with Santhosh’s rich atmospheric soundscape are the soundtrack’s best! Jigarthanda is Santhosh at his eclectic best!
