Arjun’s Rahman roots are pretty evident in Kannu kannalli, with ambient sounds picked from dozen older Rahman songs, into a neat package, sung by Deepak and Anuradha Bhat. The composer is in his elements singing the catchy Priyamani, in his trademark faux-nasal style. Aala alare and Jigi jigiyo manave barely make an impact with highly templatized tunes, but Something special thankfully rounds off the soundtrack in good stead – good vocals by Santhosh Venki and Raksha, with Arjun conjuring a simple, rhythmic song. Kannada film music’s Mr.Dependable continues to be that, but perhaps needs to take stock of his paraphernalia.
