Bedabrata Pain’s vocals seem apt for Ishan; the chorus complement him wonderfully, besides the nuanced orchestration. Jeeney ki wajah too is adorned with outstanding orchestration even as the complex, inspirational tune is very well handled. Bechayan sapne‘s Bengali sound is pleasant – Abhijeet Sawant and Mahalaxmi Iyer work their magic easily. The highlight of the soundtrack is Shankar Mahadevan’s Bolo na! Seemingly set to Abhogi Bhageshree* raaga, the classical strains come out stunningly, along with Prasoon Joshi’s lovely words! The composers make a mark in the sprawling instrumental pieces, particularly Inspiration and Chittagong. Classy opening to Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s 2012 account!

*My raaga knowledge is incredibly weak and based only on curiosity. I heard Ilayaraja’s Abogi based ‘Indraikku yen indha aanandhame’ from Vaidehi Kaathirundhaal, in Bolo na. I could be wrong too – feel free to comment on the actual raaga if you think there is a better fit.
Note: Confirmed Bolo na’s raga as Bhageshree, from Bhim Palasi’s family, from a very reliable source 🙂
