Yeh des hai has a strong Rahman whiff and works quite well! Nain tere whips up a decent Bong feel, but is a bit too simplistic, while Sohail gets it right in Sapne saloney, a strikingly pensive melody with wonderful vocals. The anthemic title song and Vande Mataram by Cine Singers Association Chorus Group are fittingly rousing and marvelously arranged! The background pieces, all seven of them, carry forward that proficient orchestration (courtesy, Simaab Sen) and are the soundtrack’s true surprise – highly imaginative and expressive! Sohail Sen takes a giant leap forward in Khelein Hum… after a tepid debut!
Keywords: Sohail Sen, Simaab Sen, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Ashutosh Gowariker
PS: Since the background pieces (programmed and arranged by Simaab Sen) are the soundtrack’s highlight, it’d be unfair to not list them – but that self-imposed 100 word limit will go for a toss if I do so, within the review. So, here goes – the first 2 are my personal favorites 🙂
