Neenda thooram with Bombay Jayashree’s enticing vocals is interestingly tuned enough, but it is way too similar to Dheena’s other recent tunes of similarly ambient nature. Ditto for the Yesudas version! Rottoram veettukkaari recycles the age-old Tamil folk tunes again, in a messy medley while Saarale saarale is the soundtrack’s clear highlight – a fascinating tune based on the already mesmerizing Mayamalava Gowlai raaga, albeit in a shade very similar to Ilayaraja’s works. Sirippukkaari is middling – barring the innovative use of guitar at just the right places, the tune lacks any impact. Composer Dheena’s occasionally sparkling form is intact!
