Maaney and Purusha payale use Seevalapperi Pandi’s music (another similarly themed film) as their frame of reference and are adequately hummable, folk’sy tracks. Oru kshanam’s overwhelming backgrounds drowns the moany singing and uninterested tune. Vaanam thottu, Saabam pudicha and Therku are tediously boring. Yugendran’s music plainly follows the usual de rigueur standards of a village theme being made by modern folks – extra-earthy lyrics wrapped in synthetically generated so-called folk sounds. The problem is, many people have done this to death and Venkatesa Pannayaar (who’s life/ death inspired this film) may simply shun this score inside his warm grave.
