Traffic (Music review), Hindi – Mithoon and Shailendra Barve

Posted by Karthik

Neki ki raah is resonant and fits the sermon-like lyrics; Arijit Singhs (!) it in his characteristic style. Keh bhi de is lovely – a serene and beautifully orchestrated duet that gains tremendously from two good singers – Benny Dayal & Palak Muchhal. Palak tries an encore in Kuch der, but the pensive tune painfully soporific. Mithoon closes with a soulful Tu alvida; Aakanksha Sharma handles it well, though Mithoon has an oddly annoying twang. Shailendra Barve’s Vitthala is as background’ish and grating as Ram Gopal Varma’s recent use of music in his films. Not traffic-stopping music, but serviceable enough.

I rather like this soundtrack! It’s nice to see what Mithoon can do when he gets a full album to himself. Plus, maybe I’m in the minority here, but I rather enjoy his singing!
