Meendum Oru Kadhal Kathai (Music review), Tamil – G.V.Prakash Kumar

Posted by Karthik

Mai pottu lyrically brings to life a nikkah, amidst a perfunctory tune. Hey pennae has a surprisingly Harris Jayaraji’sh tune, but is lovely nonetheless. In Mohini, GVP employs his faux-sufi sound again, and Sathyaprakash helps it glide through, as he does in the Yen ninjam sidharudhu that has a great rock backing. The soundtrack’s best, Yedhedho, sung by Ajesh and Harini is impeccably sweet, layered on an unusual rhythm structure! An Autumn Evening theme is as pleasant as a Vodafone ad jingle, while Kuthala kathaga is pedestrian in every way. Not a patch on Thattathin Marayathu, and business-as-usual for GVP.

Yen Nenjam Sidharudhu probably has the same raaga as Pattu Poochi (Aanandha Thandavam)?
The guitar riffs sounded slightly familiar. Overall, one of the better albums in recent times I guess!
