Bhale Bhale Magadivoy (Music review), Telugu – Gopi Sundar

Posted by Karthik

Motta modatisari comes alive as much in Sachin Warrier’s evocative vocals as it does in the way Gopi imagines the gorgeous tune and layers it with simple and pleasant sounds, with a lovely children’s chorus and a nice Punjabi’ish finish! Hello hello is racy, in comparison, but the tune continues to be wonderfully pleasant – Karthik and Chinmayi are superb with their vocal interplay. The veena’ish interludes are a nice touch too! The title song is super enthusiastic, with a lively rhythm and punchy singing by Karthik, and Mohana Bhogaraju, in particular. Gopi’s version ups the ante for a title—originally composed by M.S.Viswanathan in Maro Charitra—that has already seen Mickey J Meyer’s African-style interpretation in 2010’s Maro Charitra. Endaro is Gopi’s own power-version of Thyagaraja’s iconic Sri Ragam-based kriti. Renuka Arun delivers the fusion variant’s vocals brilliantly, particularly towards the end where she accompanies the rock base in complete sync. How how has a funny, spoofy sound, but in a funky package, complete with nadhaswaram and veena to accentuate the mock effect. Gopi’s prolific Malayalam form aside, his Telugu debut—Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju—has a crackling soundtrack. In Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, his 2nd Telugu film, he has a worthy follow-up.
