Govindudu Andarivadele (Music review), Telugu – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Posted by Karthik

Hariharan aces the slow, likeable melody of Neeli rangu, with Yuvan playing the folk rhythm to very good effect. Javed Ali’s Gulabi is a lovely slow-burner! Yuvan hands him a tune that has really long phrases that Javed handles confidently, to make the tune thoroughly endearing. Ra rakumara seems to be making good use of Dharmavathi raaga, and in Chinmayi’s trust-worthy singing, it only gets better. Bangaari bava and Ko ko kodi depend on Yuvan’s predictable rhythms and end up rather templatized. Prathi chota‘s retro-pop sound is pretty imaginative and catchy! Good stuff by Yuvan, overall, on his Telugu comeback!

Ntng against Yuvan… we are all fans and GAV movie songs disappoint a little.. 🙁

    Decent album!!!!

Thumbs down for Yuvan ! Expected superb melodies given the kind of movie ! May be he reserves his best for Tamil 🙁

    • same but telugu music has been pretty bad this year so this is refreshing by comparison

Best complete Tollywood Album I’ve heard in many years.

Yuvan is painfully out of form. All his albums this year have been ho-hum. Needs to compose for a Venkat Prabhu movie and get his mojo back.

Can’t agree. None of his albums this year was bad (barring Vanavarayan Vallavarayan). They have not been excellent either, but each one had at least two superb songs. He had a difficult time and is slowly coming back. His album are getting better and better. This one is pretty decent, if not even better, all songs are quite listenable and 2 of them are totally brilliant. Ra rakumara and Gulabi are some of the very best I’ve heard this year.

Yuvan is a south Indian musical icon who deserves the next Oscar I would say. He is the only composer who has done more than 100 films( wit hundred percent quality) in a very short span of about 10 years. He does music for more than 2 films a month. But A.R. RAHMAN, Harris Jayaraj, Devi Sri Prasad they hardly do a movie once in every 6 month’s or a year. But still Yuvan’s music has the same quality on all his films, plus he is the only legendary music director who agrees to score music for small budget films where as other music directors they prefer to choose high budget films. Also he has stepped into Bollywood to conquer the north with his mindblowing music. So guys let’s not underestimate him nor compare him with any others. He is definitely a genius. He deserves more
