Oru Indian Pranayakatha (Music review), Malayalam – Vidyasagar

Posted by Karthik

Omana komala seems to be using a classic Kedaram raaga base and is instantly likeable, in Najeem Arshad and Abhirami’s pitch-perfect vocals! Saajan attempts what is possibly a Rajasthani-styled song in thick Malayali-accented Hindi, while G.Sriram’s Valedukkanum blends satire and mock humor in the retro-styled tune and lyrics combo admirably well. Shyamameghame sounds more like what Sathyan would have got Raja to compose from him, but Vidyasagar matches footsteps beautifully, ably supported by veteran Chithra, to produce a gorgeous semi-classical melody set to Gowrimanohari, a lovely and thoroughly dependable raaga. Sathyan Anthikad’s first outing with Vidyasagar is definitely a success!

I was literally tired of the Sathyan-Ilayaraja combo!!! Glad tat Vidyasagar has done a commendable work!!

Shyamameghame is definitely not Ilayaraja material , but wasn’t the beginning very very clo9se to ‘Kaviyam Padava’ from Idayathai Thirudaathe ?

I said tha because one of the best known Gowrimanohari in Tamil (IMO) is Kanna Varuvaaya from Manadhil Urudhi Vendum, by Raja 🙂

‘Omanapoove’ is gonna be the next chartbuster in malayalam from Vidyasagar after ‘Anuragha vilochanayayi’ from Neelathamara –> ‘Nilamalare’ from Diamond Necklace –> ‘Otta Thumbi’ from Pullipulikalum aatinkuttiyum..
After the rapport with Johnson and then Ilayaraja, I think Satyan Anthikad did the right decision to rope in Vidyasagar.. Now after listening to the songs I should admit that Satyan Anthikad + Vidyasagar combo is here to stay.
Also, a special mention to the beautiful and simple lyrics as well by Rafeeq Ahmed.

The movie has some fine melodious BGM throughout. Particularly, the flute pieces were excellent. Great work. I would not be surprised if the BGM of the movie is released just like they had done it previously for Chandramukhi.
