Potugadu (Music review), Telugu – Achu & Gurukiran

Posted by Karthik

Achu reuses two of Gurukiran’s original Kannada numbers, of which the funky Pyar mein is completely mauled by Manchu Manoj with his horrendous singing. Thankfully, Achu retains the essence of Anthare ivananna well in the energetic Bindass, Tippu pitching-in in style. Devatha is heavily auto-tuned, even for Karthik, but this Thaman-styled track is a lovely listen, while Super Figure is coarsely noisy Telugu kuthu. Simbu sings Bujji pilla with his usual flair, even as the tune is only mildly interesting. Of the four themes, only Action The Distraction stands out. Potugadu is less interesting than its original’s (Govindaya Namaha) soundtrack.
