Besharam (Music review), Hindi – Lalit Pandit, Ishq Bector & Shree D

Posted by Karthik

The title song‘s techno mix, by Ishq Bector, Shree D and Lalit Pandit, is passably catchy. Tere mohalle, Aa re and Chal hand uthake pass by with no impact. Lalit also uses the Italian Bella Ciao to create Love ki ghanti, another middling melange. But he amply redeems himself with Dil kaa jo haal hai, a very pleasant, Jatin-Lalit’ish melody sung beautifully by Abhijeet and Shreya! Lalit scores with Tu hai too, to some extent – Sonu and Shreya help prop this breezy tune, along with a sweeping extended ending! That’s two winners for Lalit in an otherwise staid soundtrack!

Keywords: Besharam, Lalit Pandit, Ishq Bector, Shree D

Dil Ka Jo Haal Hai has a flowing hook which sounds exactly like Tera Yakeen Kyon Maine Kiya Nahi from Awarapan by Pritam!

    • nakhre

No it doesn’t if you’re referring to “tera mera rishta” from awarapan…. It sounds like a mix of a zillion J-L songs, namely “Jo Haal Dil Ka” from Sarforosh (which Lalit Pandit has rehashed for the upteenth time in his sole ventures!)

      • Harshit

Listen to the lines where they call it awara bechara nakara dil, something like that. It’s the whole loop copied with like a note and a half changed for the sake of it.

        • nakhre

hmm I don’t see much of a similarity, barring that one line and the “tera yakeen kyon” line. the main chorus for tera mera rishta is nowhere present in the song.

          • Harshit

Yeah, it’s not long, but the part that is there is almost exact reproduction. and considering it’s from such a big hit, it’s frankly idiotic.

          • nakhre

the fact lalit pandit copies at all is idiotic, it’s quite saddening.but yeah i would say parts of the song is copied from tera mera rishta, but i wouldn’t say it’s a complete copy, it’s only the part where sherya sings.

          • Somadri Chatterjee

Right. Ore Ore Baanke Chhore & Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si come to my mind. Not very sure though. Maybe Karthik could throw some light on it!

          • nakhre

gore gore banke chore from samadhi is copied from a different song chico chico – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD1G8rEDoTU

and ek ladki bheegi bhaagi se is copied from a sixteen tons song. both of these are already on itwofs.

UGHHH this is driving me crazy, there is definately 2-3 other bella ciao songs, one is definately an anu malik song from the 90s that comes to mind, and there is a raj kapoor/ 40s/50s song with it too

      • Shashwat

Great catch, I thought I had heard this part somewhere before, it was driving me crazy, I knew this part was lifted from a very famous song and I couldn’t put my finger on it.

I wouldn’t agree with the word ‘idiotic’ though. They will make money off two tunes which everyone knows.

        • nakhre

it’s idiotic because lalit pandit, with jatin pandit, were quite original in their music (compared to N-S/A-M & Anu) and ever since lalit had his solo career (same with jatin actually, his solo venture say yes to love had a pretty blatant rip off “yaadein tere naam” is copied from NFAK’s tara tara jagon”). it’s depressing to see lift every other song, when he origianlly has come up with better. this is the same man who composed khiladi/khamosh, etc

          • milliblog

I can’t the original mention of ‘idiotic’ and wondering where it started from!

Anyway, as much as I like Jatin Lalit, they have some really and shamelessly blatant lifts to their (dis)credit.

          • nakhre

I’m well aware of those as I’m a huge J-L fan and know their pros and flaws but they have 20-30 lifts, and most of their Good songs are original. It’s just depressing seeing the minds behind great tunes like “Chand sifarish” coming up with such crap lately. -_-

and the original mention of idiotic is in an earlier post in this same conversation.

Do you know what other songs are copied from Bella Ciao, i keep hearing an old raj kapoor song!

    • Harshit

Agree. And a correction. Pritam just arranged it. The composition was by Mustafa Zahid, who sang it too.

  • Harshit

Did you copy the review from somewhere? cuz you (provided it’s Karthik only) certainly couldn’t miss the straight lift from Mustafa Zahid’s Tera yakeen kyun maine kiya nahi and call it, I guess, the best song of the album.

    • milliblog

Minimal direct similarity, IMO. The packaging is different, obviously, where they take that line not in the beginning but as line 3.

I like the song the best because of 2 reasons – one, it is a very Jatin Lalit sounding song and one of the first times Lalit has made an explicit attempt to bring that sound back in full glory.

      Two, Abhijeet!

  • Previn

Love ki ghanti song copied from an italian song..”Bella Ciao”

the Starting Of besharam’s Title track Tune Is copied From “Khulla Sand” Song From the Recent Release “Rabba Main Kya Karoon”
& Dil Ka Jo Haal Hai ‘s Minor Part Is Lifted From “Tera Mera Rishta” From Awarapan…
Totally The Album Is A Recreation Of These Hit songs..
    But All Songs Were Good..

  • Sambhu Mahendran

Except the title track, this OST is an utter failure!
