The title song is brisk and builds its energy gradually and surely, while Khamaka builds into a gorgeously pleasant melody, complete with an African chorus, but with middling vocals by Vishal himself. Rekha is in her elements in the whimsical Oye boy, backed by Gulzar’s amusing lyrics. Lootnewale‘s dhol-led Punjabi sound is grander than usual in Vishal’s able hands, even as he reserves the soundtrack’s best for his wife in the absolutely alluring, sitar-backed Badal uthiya! Of the shorter tracks, Umoja’s African choral Nomvula and Chaar dina ki make an impression. Typically quirky and imaginative soundtrack from the Vishal-Gulzar combo!
