Aadhalaal Kadhal Seiveer (Music review), Tamil – Yuvan Shankar Raja

Posted by Karthik

Mellasirithaal kadhalthan is typical Yuvan solo; minimal techno backgrounds and a melody that has Yuvan stylishly going off-key with the help of auto-tune – addictive, as usual! Udit Narayan’s Machi machi is awkwardly archaic – it’s only the foot-tapping rhythm that goes in its favor. Thappu thanda too, despite spirited singing by Javed Ali, is too standardized a Yuvan tune that fails to raise beyond its self-imposed mediocrity. Thankfully, Poovum poovum brings the soundtrack to a good closure – Rajaesque orchestration fused with Yuvan’s own psychedelic glitz over an unconventional tune! Aadhalaal Kadhal Seiveer is a mixed bag, with two stand-outs!
