Sevarkkodi (Music review), Tamil – C Sathya

Posted by Karthik

Velava velava must be the snazziest ode to Lord Muruga yet; foot-tapping stuff. Meene vinmeene and Puraavai are beautifully crafted melodies…unhurried, memorable tunes, great arrangements and very good singing, particularly Vijayprakash’s solo in the latter. Nenje nenje‘s techno sound is appealing more so because of Vairamuthu’s powerful lyrics. Incidentally, the lyrics are even more interesting in Kambi mathappu, a faux-folk song that seems straight out of Praveen Mani-Harikumar combination, but is a lovely listen mainly because of the lyrics and MLR Karthikeyan’s involved singing. Vettayai is a bizarre, pointless mishmash. C Sathya definitely makes a noticeable composing debut in Sevarkodi!
