Sabaash Sariyana Potti (Music review), Tamil – Thaman S

Posted by Karthik

Kadhirmozhi’s expressive verses help Thaman’s resonant arrangements and tune combination in Mudhal mozhi – this is a good listen. The composer repeats a similar sounding rich package in Ullam thudikudha, crooning it himself and working brilliantly on its nuanced orchestration. Unfortunately Nenjathin jin jin, despite those humorous mimicry interludes, is horribly bland and stale. Same with Vandhutanya, a painfully outdated kuthu track with every bit of the kuthu template followed faithfully and resulting in massive ennui. Thankfully, Rita’s Odu mamey offers some closing respite with its throbbing rhythm and a foot tapping techno-kuthu sound. Sabaash Sariyana Potti is just about tolerable.
