The Thriller (Music review), Malayalam – Dharan

Posted by Karthik

Priyankari has all of Dharan’s trademark tactics – a gorgeously foot-tapping rhythm and fabulous arrangements, lovely vocals (including Mamta Mohandas’) and a simple, lilting tune – instant win! Ormathan has faint shades of Vinnaithaandi’s Anbil Avan…just in the overall feel, but is still an engrossing listen! Dharan repurposes his Sivi chartbuster, Neruppum, as Mizhiyil – continues to be a pulsating track! The title song starts off with Prithviraj’s tantalizing vocals and the overall package, with uncredited rap phrases and Sunitha Parthasarathy’s vocals, offers a neat thematic track. Dharan cooks up a readily likeable and well packaged soundtrack for The Thriller!

Keywords: Prithviraj, Mamta Mohandas, Dharan

Note: The title song is a remake of ‘Vali Theduthe’ from Yogi B & Natchatra’s Vallavan. It was also used by Dharan earlier in Laadam, as the song ‘Gangster’. Thanks to Naveen Naushad for pointing out the Laadam connection!
