Tees Maar Khan (Music review), Hindi – Vishal Shekhar

Posted by Karthik

Shirish Kunder’s stagey title song is interestingly gimmicky – with Sonu Nigam’s impressive Dasavatharam-style multi-voice singing topping the list, while Sheila ki jawani is a zingy, rabble-rousing scorcher that is mainly Sunidhi’s show! The only thing differentiating the energetic, well-sung techno qawali Wallah re wallah from Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s repertoire is Shankar’s missing vocals…thankfully! Badey dilwala is that kind of song that is perhaps meant to complement a montage on screen, while Happy Ending is the kind that possibly complements the film’s cast moving their hands left and right, in good-natured poses. Sheila and Wallah save this Khan from maar.

  • almost all the movies recently by Vishal & Shekhar had gud music and very pathetic movie experience, let we expect this to be vice versa 🙂

    hi karthik

have sent you a mail. hope it’s not landed in the spam bin. do check. it’s about a wonderful kannada song by dr raj and the mehdi hassan inspiration!

  • You say – Shankar’s missing vocals…thankfully! Why?? Shankar Mahadevan is one of the best singer Bollywood has. 100000000000000 times better than nasal Atifs and Himmeshs.

I agree, but there’s a strong sense of deja vu that he brings to a particular kind of music that SEL produce, which is better off with a newer voice, in my opinion. Here, the song Wallah already sounds like a SEL song, so it’s good that they didn’t have Shankar singing it and making it more obvious!

Wasn’t Anu Malik suppose to do end credits track ?

Just saw scorching hot Sheila ki Jawani video. Looks like nation will have to remain bzz for a little longer, munni is still not off people’s minds & now Sheila is here.
But best this OST has to offer ends here. Title track(also can be named Sonu’s talent show) has no repeat value once visuals are off, Bade Dilwala sounds straight out of 90’s, Happy Ending has nothing new to offer. The only remaining track wallah is just ok..might grow on one after video release.
So apart from Sheila, too many disappointments for me..first looks like my man Anu Malik got booted again, second IMO this a step backward for V-S who have been in amazing form this year so far & last but not least…just 5 comments here, I expected a barrage of comments as this was one of the most anticipated albums of the year.

I actually like 3 from this soundtrack – Sheila Kijawani, Wallah and the title track, so sue me! 😉
