Uthamaputhiran (Music review), Tamil – Vijay Antony

Posted by Karthik

Ussumu laresay rivals Harris Jeyaraj-style gibberish and is merely standard techno-kuthu that Vijay regularly conjures. Kan irrandil has a folksy, Telugu’ish feel and Naresh Iyer’s lively vocals do help, while the wedding-round-the-corner track, Idicha pacharisi is highly templatized and boring – much like Ulagam enakku, based on another template! It is in En nenje that the composer soars beautifully with those Vidyasagar-style sweeping violins and a simple, lilting tune! Even Thooral thedum (wrongly credited as ‘Podum’ in the CD!), he gets Ajesh and Janani Iyer for a soft, lovely melody and it works pretty well! Two melodies save this Uthamaputhiran!

Keywords: Dhanush, Genelia, Vijay Antony

  • It’s out already? How does it stack with DSP’s original?

  • i swear the initial violin bits in the first 20 secs En Nenju are taken from Endhiran’s Pudhiya Manidha!
