Music review: Housefull (Hindi – Shankar Ehsaan Loy)

Posted by Karthik

Oh Girl you’re mine is an unfortunate opener to the soundtrack since it’s the least interesting song with a terribly lame pattern and predictable sounds. Then, the soundtrack delivers all the fun! Papa jag jayega makes brilliant use of Neeraj Sridhar’s vocals and that ultra-catchy hook, while the Dhanno-remix of Laawaris’ memorable classic adds neat flourishes to an already delightful song! The musical trio mix two unrelated genres delightfully in I don’t know what to do even as Vivienne Pocha is a fantastic choice for the groovy, pointedly teasing number, Loser! Enjoyably massy and worth a foot-tapping listen, this Housefull!

“I dont know what to do” is the best track.Well done singers.

Wow, really loving the soundtrack..! Lucky dog sajid, got another winning composition from the trio.. 😀

SEL are undoubtedly the most consistent (and underrated) composers after ARR.. Even their worst albums have some enjoyable tracks..! Rock on guys..!

hmmm…first time i differ so much from karthik…

i found it to be an extremely sad soundtrack…even after relistening to it after your review…

massively disappointed from SEL and Sajid Khan…even Whosane screws up big time wit d remixes…

    ne1 agrees wit me?

‘Oh Girl, You’re mine’ has some interesting sounds and nice, fleeting accordion. ‘I Dont Know What To Do’ is decent fun, thanks to Shabbir’s vocals. That’s about it!

btw, Isn’t this Tarun Sagar the SRGMP guy? He has done well.

Sajid’s David Dhawan’ish sensibilities dominate trio’s musical sensibilities…and trio seems to have simply complied. Soundtrack might be apt for the movie, but musically it does not have anything great to offer apart from flashes of brilliance in arrangements here & there.
Only two tracks that I find listenable are Oh girl coz its very massy & Loser for its neat arrangements & Vivienne’s Tina Turner styled rendition.

‘Loser’ reminds me of Bluffmaster’s ‘9 Parts of Desire’.

    SEL are getting monotonous.

    “SEL are getting monotonous.”
Sorry can’t agree wid u here.. They were monotonous in HTAG maybe.. But which song sounded monotonous here?

  • arunm

Papa Jag Jayega sounds like Ticket To Hollywood(JBJ) Part II
Not much impressive outcome from SEL.
