Music review: Chup (Pakistani, Zeb & Haniya)

Posted by Karthik

Along with fabulous vocals, Norwegian musician Hildegunn Oiseth’s trumpets embellish the jazzy title track. Rona chor diya’s girl power is channeled very well in the rock’ish tune while the bluesy jazz feel is even more enjoyable in tracks like Kabhi na kabhi, Aitebaar, Seh na sakay and Kahaan. The Pashto/ Darri song, Paimana bitte is the album’s pick, with a haunting tune made beautiful by Hildegunn’s horn usage. The mild classical touches in Chal diye, the filmi sound of Ahaan and the typical Paki pop, Ban kay touri reaffirm Zeb and Haniya’s undeniably remarkable arrival in the Pakistani music scene.
