Go Mithoon go!

Posted by Karthik

If I were to name the most impressive recent Hindi film composer, it has to be Mithoon. Son of the perennially-sidelined veteran composer Naresh Sharma, Mithoon’s (limited) compositions in Bas Ek Pal, Anwar & Atif’s Kuch is tarah seem out of place in the very commercial and item’ised Bollywood. His limited (original*) repertoire is largely moody and extraordinarily tuneful, though we’re yet to hear anything peppy – not that I’m complaining! With his first solo film (The Train, allegedly a (f)re(e)make of Mikael Håfström’s Derailed) just round the corner, here’s hoping he doesn’t disappoint us and join the Bollywood claptrap.

Keywords: Mithoon Sharma, Mithun Sharma, Bas Ek Pal, Anwar, Atif Aslam

* Not including his recreations here. Mithoon started by recreating Woh Lamhe (Zeher) and Aadat (Kalyug), and that’s how he got to meet Atif Aslam too!

Well, Mithoon has impressed always. He is slowly becoming the best. He won’t dissapoint for sure. And when is the album releasing? Any Idea?

  • Karthik

  • s_sylu

Yes, I assur he will become one of the greatest composers……..

  • polo246

I recently saw a clip of a song from Train and I must say, the song playing in the promo sounded mighty catchy.

  • Karthik

    polo246,

Which channel was it in….any idea?

  • pman

    Karthik,

The song is called ‘Woh Ajnabi’. check it out at

Thanks pman. Boy, am I hooked to this track? Its fantastic….The Train has already topped my ‘must-get’ list of soundtracks. A recent Yahoo write-up says the music was supposed to be released on 8th April, but its nowhere in sight, yet!

    Karthik,

Somewhat related to the new sounds in Hindi OST with quotes from Mithoon, Pritam and Sulaiman.

    MITHOON IS TOOOOOO AWESOME.
    WOH AJNABEE IS FABULOUS.
    THE BIG SURPRISE IS THAT…
MITHOON IS THE SINGER OF the song
    WOH AJNABEE in TRAIN…

  • pman

Are you sure? I think the voice sounds like Atif Aslam.

  • Karthik

I was kinda wondering the same though I recall reading that it’s Mithoon’s voice in some forum – could be another eager fan spreading false info.

But that song is fantastic – I cant wait for the audio release!

  • tiya

MITHOON MAKES HIS SINGING DEBUT WITH
    WOH AJNABEE IN TRAIN..
    IT’S MITHOON AND ONLY MITHOON.
CHECK OUT HIS NAME ON THE CREDITS WHEN
    THE CD IS OUT.
ALSO there is an exclusive article on the
internet stating that MITHOON has sung
    WOH AJNABEE.

It seems that Atif’s fan club forum members say that is Mithoon and not Atif.

  • tiya

MITHOON SOUNDS AWESOME IN WOH AJNABEE..

  • tyrannicrabbit

Mithoon is an awesome composer. He has begun his career on a high note!

  • Karthik

Second song promo from The Train – Zindagi ne zindagi. Two things – this looks like Atif singing too.

And, going by the scenes, it looks all the more like they’ve freemade Derailed.

  • pman

Has the typical ‘Jal’ band sound found in Kalyug.

  • Karthik

IndiaFM confirms that Woh Ajnabee is sung by Mithoon himself. I’m impressed!

  • Arun

Hard to believe! He sounds very much like Atif

  • tiyaa

I just saw Mithoon’s song EK SHAQS on tv…it sounds awesome..

  • BestMan

Anyone have any idea what has happened/is happening with Mithoon? Did he not get anymore offers after the Malaysian movie? He is such a promising composer…
